
TOM
COOK--PROGRAM DIRECTOR/OWNER
Earned BA from Southern
Illinois University, where he was a captain of the NCAA Gymnastics Championship
Team, MBA from Indiana State. Tom has coached 3 Olympians, including 1984
Olympian Kathy Johnson, 2 World Championship team members, 20 Elite national
competitors, over 30 Jr. Olympic national competitors, 35 State team champions,
14 Regional Championship teams, and 53 gymnasts who received NCAA scholarships.
Tom Cook is the owner of the Tucker facility which opened in the summer of 1976.
He opened the second location in Lawrenceville in November 1996.
JERMAINE "JAMIE" NEAL/CLASS COACH
Jamie has over 10 years
experience teaching boys and girls gymnastics. He is CPR certified and is also
a tumbling instructor. Jamie has taught a wide variety of classes from our Tots
program through preteam gymnasts. As a gymnast, Jamie competed through level
9. He qualified for regional's in level 7 and 9. Jamie’s goal is to make
exercising fun, encourage fit for life, and develop respect and knowledge for
gymnastics. Jamie obtained a BA in Middle Childhood Education from Georgia State
University and is currently teaching. He enjoys tennis, reading, and
painting/drawing.
AMY FINKEL/CLASS COACH
Amy has been with the Atlanta School of
Gymnastics (ASG) for over 10 years and brings with her over 10 years of body
building and a lifetime of athletic experience. Amy competed as a child in some
all around competitions and began assistant teaching at the age of 12. She then
went on to a tumbling team in high school. Amy is accredited as a Special
Olympics International Coach and as a USAGF Kinder Teacher. In her work, Amy
strives to instill in each child a greater sense of confidence in their
abilities and a love, respect, and personal responsibility for their fitness for
life. Amy has a degree in Psychology from Emory University. She studied
French and translations with New York University at the Sorbonne in Paris. She
has also received a translation certification study from Georgia State. Amy has
traveled extensively throughout Europe and North Africa as well as North
American and lots of islands. In her spare time, Amy is busy baking dog
cookies, creating the Daily Do’s, playing the piano, researching, and playing
with her multiple critters.
LORI ANN HILDERBRAND/TOTS 1 THRU HOTSHOTS
AND BOY COACH
Lori has been teaching
gymnastics at the Atlanta School of Gymnastics (ASG) since 1988. After 19 years in ballet, Lori started teaching
ballet to competitive gymnastics teams. From there she started coaching lower
level gymnastics and level 4 girls team. Lori left ASG for a short time to
coach level 8 girls in Miami. After returning from Miami, Lori’s love of
children prompted her to enhance the preschool program here at ASG. She also
coached for 3 years Special Olympics through the Dekalb County School System.
Lori is also CPR certified and a Certified Massage Therapist. Her other
interests include meditation, yoga, hiking and exploring national parks. She
emphasizes total body awareness, building strength and developing confidence.
ROCHELLE DIAH/HEAD COACH COMPETITIVE
CHEERLEADING
Rochelle has coached
competitive cheerleading for the past 3 years at the Atlanta School of
Gymnastics (ASG). She has coached youth
through senior level girls and boys for the past 9 years at other gyms. Her
teams have won regional and national competitions through out the United
States. She attended Morris Brown College in Atlanta, Georgia. Rochelle is CPR
certified and Safety certified. Rochelle also works privately with the high
schools and private schools in the metro area. Rochelle loves to read in
her spare time. Her biggest joy is working with children. She strives to
encourage the very best in all of her students.
MEGAN DAUGHERTY/CHAMPS COACH
Megan has been a gymnast for a number of
years. She has been a high school district champion team member and a state
competitor in Virginia. Megan was a volunteer coach for Potomac Falls
Virginia High School in Virginia and a class coach at Apex Gymnastics in
Leesburg, VA. She has a Bachelors Degree in Biology from Virginia Tech and she
is employed by Emory University as a Research Specialist in the School of
Medicine. Her objective as a coach is to help her students learn the
discipline and basic skills required to be a good gymnast. Megan also hopes her
students continue having fun with gymnastics.
SPENCER SLATON/BOYS TEAM COACH
Spencer
was Sr. National Team Member and Member of the 1994 Pacific Alliance
Championships Team (1st Place Team, 1st Place Vault, 7th
High Bar). Three time Jr. National Floor Exercise Champion (’89, ’90, ’91).
Junior National Team Member (’89, ’90, ’91). Spencer received a full
scholarship to UCLA and was All-American on Floor Exercise in the 1993 NCAA
Championships. National Champions at Club Nationals in ’95, ’96, ’97, ’98
competing for UCLA. Spencer coached Levels 4-6 at Broadway Gymnastics in
Santa Monica, CA before coming to the Atlanta School of Gymnastics (ASG) where
he coaches the ASG Compulsory and Optional Team. He also coached boys and girls
of all levels at Chris Wallers' “Gym Jam”, in Santa Barbara, CA.
NATHAN SIMMONS/HEAD COACH/MEN'S TEAM
Nathan attended Memphis State University
on a full scholarship where he received many athletic and academic awards.
Among Nathan’s many gymnastics accomplishments: Southern Collegiate
Parallel Bar Champion; Class I State Champion; AAU & YMCA National Floor
Champion. Nathan has been a member of the National coaching staff for ten
years. He has coached and developed: Eleven J. O. National Champions & One USA
Championship National All-Around Champion.
REBECCA CORSO/LEVEL 4-5 TEAM
COACH/CHAMPS ASSISTANT/CLASS COACH
Rebecca was a level 10 gymnasts.
During the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta, she was chosen to participate in the
Closing Ceremonies. Due to her accomplishments, she was featured in "Who's
Who Among High School Athletes". She attended Morehead State University on
a Cheerleading scholarship and was on the All-Girl competitive squad. They
were National Champs in 2001 and 2002. She graduated with a Bachelor's of
University Studies in PE, Health and Exercise Science. She is Safety and
First Aid certified. Rebecca has taught recreational gymnastics classes
for over 10 years, was an Assistant Team Coach here at ASG in 1999, and at Cobb
in 2004. She directed the Cobb summer Gymnastics Clinic in 2005 and 2006.
Rebecca's goals for her students are for the girls to enjoy the class and learn
the skills necessary for being the best gymnast they can.
TIM CAMPIONE/CLASS COACH
Tim has been involved with gymnastics for
over 20 years. He competed on team at ASG as a Level 10 USGF gymnast.
Tim has experience teaching boys' class levels 1,2,3 and preteam. He also
has experience teaching beginning, intermediate and advanced cheerleading, and
girls preteam and level 4/5 USAG. Tim attended Chattahoochee Tech majoring
in television production. He has also attended Gwinnett Tech majoring in
Travel Management. Besides teaching gymnastics and cheerleading, Tim is
also a filmmaker and audio engineer. Tim's main concern is that the kids
are safe, have fun and make friends that last a lifetime.
ANDREA
CORONADO/CLASS COACH
Andrea took gymnastics classes for five years and reached level
6. She has taught recreational gymnastics since 2005. Andrea has
also helped ASG with the summer camp program for the past two years.
Andrea is currently attending Georgia State University. Her many interests
include journalism, photography, traveling, violin, tap, jazz, ballet and
swimming. Andrea's goals for her students are to progress in their basic
gymnastics skills and have the discipline that can apply to all parts of their
lives. She wants them to have fun as well as building strength.
SUSAN
SAFWAT/CLASS COACH
Susan has been teaching gymnastics at ASG for the past two years.
She also helped instruct Gymnastics Summer Camp. She has taught beginning
through intermediate gymnastics classes. As a gymnast herself, Susan
attained Level 5. She was a member of the Lakeside High School Gymnastics
team. Susan is also CPR certified. Susan is currently attending
Georgia State University. In her spare time, Susan enjoys reading.
Susan's goal for her students is that they do their best and have fun while
doing gymnastics.
JACOB
MODRICH/CLASS COACH
Jacob has been teaching at ASG for the past two years as a
recreational coach and one year as an assistant team coach. He has
practiced gymnastics for 13 years. Jacob was a two time National qualifier
and was ranked in the top 10 at Regionals four years in a row. He
accomplished first place in floor, high bar and pommel horse at nationals.
In his spare time, Jacob enjoys wood working, varsity track & field, and
football. Jacob's teaching objectives are fun, and to teach proper form
and technique.
ASHLEIGH GLASS/CLASS COACH
This is Ashleigh's first year coaching gymnastics, but she has
coached cheer tumbling for several years. Ashleigh has been on the Tucker High
School gymnastics team for the past 3 years. She completes all around but her
favorite and best events are vault and floor. She has place first in several
competitions. Ashleigh has also been a part of a competitive cheer squad from
the time she was 8 years old. She has won multiple national titles including
stunt group and individual competition. Ashleigh’s objective for her students
is to learn new skills, develop a love for gymnastics, and learn life long
lessons in time management and over all physical health.
